Blackwater Rovers

Blackwater Rovers minor club was formed in 2001 as an amalgamation of Killavullen and Ballyhooly minor clubs, due to shortage of player numbers in both clubs. The amalgamation was a tremendous success as it provided a good standard of hurling and football for our young players and also many titles have been won. In 2005 the amalgamation was extended to U-16 level. This provided good continuity as the players were playing together over a longer period.

The amalgamation was disbanded in 2015 as both clubs had sufficient numbers again, to stand in their own right, Killavullen on their own, and Ballyhooley joined with Castletownroche to form Ballycastle Gaels. For its duration, it was a tremendous success, helped in no small part by the very willing and engaging attitude of the Ballyhooley club in which strong and lasting friendships have been forged.
